The Sunnyvale Eichler Vault

Where the Eichler Production System Was Born, Refined, and Scaled.

Sunnyvale is not simply a city with a large Eichler population. It is where Joseph Eichler's first substantial modern housing experiments occurred in 1948–1950 — and where the architectural program that eventually produced thousands of California post-and-beam houses was tested and proven.

Archival Integrity Note

The citywide working figure of ~1,100 homes is consistent across multiple contemporary Sunnyvale Eichler sources. Individual tract counts reflect the most defensible archival figures; material discrepancies (particularly Fairbrae/Fairbrae Addition and Rancho Verde/Rancho Verde Addition) are flagged within each card rather than collapsed into artificial totals. SSO status is parcel/neighborhood-specific — not an automatic characteristic of every Sunnyvale Eichler.
